United Sikh Movement came to life when a group of students wanted to make SSA a productive home for Sikh youth. SSA's have been around since the 60s, but they have lacked a withstanding purpose and sense of unity. These students reached out to SSA presidents and in a short time, they mobilized for unity, and more importantly, for a movement. Currently, for the first time in California history, a single organization has successfully created a headquarters for the SSAs.
